The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which has been reporting fatalities throughout the civil war, said on Monday that at least four government soldiers were killed during an US-led coalition air raid on their positions in northeastern Syria.

Russian media, quoting unnamed Syrian officials, reportedly confirmed the air raid which took place in Deir ez Zor province, some 120 kilometers north of the Iraqi border.

The sources said that two tanks and an ammunition depot had been destroyed and that up to 16 Syrian soldiers had also been injured.

There has been no comment from the Syrian government. US-led coalition officials have also not commented on the deadly attack.
