12 Russians in Bloomberg’s 100 richest list

A total of 12 Russians made it into Bloomberg’s list of the 100 richest people in the world.

None are in the top 10, however, five Russian billionaires are among the 50 richest people according to Bloomberg.

The chairman of Gazprominvestholding’s, Alisher Usmanov is number 36 on the list with a total net worth of $19.8 billion.

He is Russia’s richest man and controls many other holdings in different sectors of industry, as well as being a major shareholder in London’s Arsenal Football Club.

Six positions down and with $1.8 billion less net worth is Viktor Vekselberg, who took part in the recent TNK-BP deal.

The major shareholder in Russia’s second-largest gas producing companies – Novatek, Leonif Mikhelson is number 43.

His net worth is $17.4 billion, over $5.5 billion of which he collected since 2005 in Novatek dividends and share sales.

Vladimir Lisin is at number 46 – the net worth of the chairman of the country’s most valuable steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel, is estimated at $16.8 billion.

At number 49 is Vladimir Potanin, CEO of Norilsk Nickel, the world’s largest nickel producer. His net worth is $16.1 billion.

At number one on the list is the Mexican, Carlos Slim, whose estimated net worth is $78.5 billion.
